Things Are Getting a Little Wild for a Wonderful Cause!
This month, we’re teaming up with our friends at Red Canoe Credit Union for Doernbecher Days! Collaboration is at the heart of the credit union movement, and this is “People Helping People” in action: two local credit unions coming together to raise even more for Doernbecher Children’s Hospital and the families who count on its care.
Doernbecher treats thousands of children each year, regardless of their families’ ability to pay. Since 2010, our Fibre Family has raised more than $648,000 for the hospital through Credit Unions for Kids fundraisers. Our employees get in on the giving too. More than 75% of our staff participate in Doernbecher Mondays, which has already raised over $20,000 this year!
Swing By and Join the Fun
There are plenty of ways to support Doernbecher Days in October:
- Adopt a new little friend for $10! Purchase an adorable plush monkey at any of our locations or any Cowlitz County Red Canoe location while supplies last. Choose to take it home, or we can donate your monkey to a child at Doernbecher on your behalf!
- Sponsor a Children’s Miracle Network balloon icon for $1 or more. Add your name or the name of someone special, and we’ll post it on the wall. Donate $100 or more and we’ll add your name to a jumbo balloon recognizing your generous gift!
- Put your spare change to work. Clear the change from your cupholder and couch cushions and drop it into a Credit Unions for Kids donation canister at any of our financial services centers.
- Donate from your account. Just ask us to make a deposit or transfer to our Doernbecher donation account. The Fibre Family and Red Canoe teams are ready to help!
- Give from home. Make an online donation here and save a trip to town.
Where Do Those Dollars Go?
We’re founding members of Credit Unions for Kids (CU4Kids), a nationwide network that brings credit unions together to support Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Here in the Pacific Northwest, that means helping Doernbecher fund some of its biggest needs in pediatric care, research, facilities, and community outreach.
Over the years, CU4Kids has helped fund millions of dollars in projects, including pediatric research, expanded clinics and intensive care facilities, the Gary and Christine Rood Family Pavilion for patients and their families, endowed pediatric professorships, and a state-of-the-art hybrid operating room. Those are some pretty big things made possible one donation at a time.
And one of the best parts? 100% of the money we raise goes directly to the hospital.
